Jefferson Elementary School
Wisconsin School of Recognition Honors

2014-2015 School Year
Physical Activity & Healthy Nutrition Activities

Donald Driver teamed up with Children's Hospital to establish Driven to Better Health, a school and family based wellness partnership for Wisconsin children and families.

Driven to Better Health was open to all elementary and middle schools throughout Wisconsin interested in implementing physical activity and healthy nutrition activities for their school community. Families were encouraged to participate both with the school and at home. The program was another step Children's was taking toward their vision of making the kids of Wisconsin the healthiest in the nation, and it's another way Driver was working to instill healthy habits in today's youth.

By signing up, a school was considered for Department of Public Instruction awards up to $250 for submissions focusing both on nutrition and physical activity.

Our elementary school participated and has been acknowledged the Silver Level Award in celebration of Jefferson's implementation of physical activity & healthy nutrition activities in our school. We received a $200 award to invest in our continued commitment of health and wellness.

Summer Project at Jefferson

This project was built by Jefferson families and staff in an effort to beautify our playground, protect our tree and promote safety.

The building materials were gifted by our Jefferson P.A.T.T. (Parents And Teachers Together).  We were fortunate to have annual and perennial plants donated by our local All American Do It Center.

THANK YOU to those that donated materials, time and positive energy to this project!
