Grade 8 Integrated Technology is a nine-week class in which students practice public speaking and use technology to communicate. During the quarter, students prepare two speeches, including a demonstration speech. They also create two technology projects: the first, a newsletter about themselves using ClarisWorks; the second, a project exploring an aspect of the middle school and presenting it using either HyperStudio, Avid Cinema, PowerPoint, or Netscape Composer. Students are also introduced to the ethics of Internet use as they are shown how to evaluate Web pages and become acquainted with filtered search engines. |
