Our class performed two plays from our reading theme - Oink, Oink, Oink. The plays are fractured fairy tales of the The Three Little Pigs. One play, The Three Javelinas, is set in the southwest desert with three javelinas and a coyote. Surf's Up in our second play, The Three Hawaiian Pigs and the Magic Shark! Both plays were made into computer movies using the software program, iMovie.
We have been mentoring the kindergarteners and the second graders. We have worked with the kindergarteners in graphing and helped them make pictographs and bar graphs with the software program, The Graph Club. We assisted the second graders in keyboarding so they can begin writing their stories in the new computer lab.
We studied the human body with the second graders. Student pairs created models of human bodies and added organs like the brain, heart, and lungs. Our models also had bones and muscles too. We also learned about nutrition and planned and prepared a healthy, balanced lunch for our classes.Lunch was delicious! We concluded our wellness unit by having pairs create and share multimedia slideshows that promoted wellness.
