BOOM!! BANG!! That’s the sound of the thunderstorm
coming. They’re pretty scary that’s what I thought. But it’s just a sound, lightning is what you should scare
you. Do you want to know what
lightning is made of? Well, lightning is made of rapid heating and cooling of air near
the lightning channel. It causes a shock wave that results in thunder. Water
and ice particles also affect the distribution of electrical charge. Your chances of
being struck by lightning are 1 in 600,000. Each year thunderstorms are killing more even
more people than tornadoes! Those chances can
be reduced by following safety rules:
Thunderstorms are at least 15 miles in diameter. That is just
the typical thunderstorm.
Thunderstorms can get even bigger than 15 miles. Being struck by lightning can cause a lot of harm like: ·
burns
·
nervous
system damage ·
broken
bones ·
loss
of hearing and eyesight. It can be a very serious emergency. The lift –front,
sea breezes and mountains are capable of lifting air. That helps to form
thunderstorms. That is what
helps the thunderstorms. Now, you are an
expert about thunderstorms. Well,
not a total expert. Now you have
a lot of information. |
