Task

Your Amazon Rainforest TV show will be a multimedia slideshow that your team will present to the viewers in TV land ( our class). Your TV show will consist of animal reports, comparisons of the team's animals (Venn Diagram posters), "Did You Know" segments on the Amazon rainforest, and your own PSAs (Public Service Announcements) on saving the rainforests. Your team will need to create a title for your TV show and theme music. Finally your team will create a rainforest diorama to use as a prop in your presentation.

Process

Your team will work in pairs when exploring and researching on the internet.

Stage 1

Pairs will explore rainforest sites and answer questions on a rainforest questions template. Your team will meet after both pairs have explored and answered questions to share their findings.

Stage 2

Pairs will research to make slides for your team's Kid Pix Studio Deluxe slideshow. Each team member will research animal sites and report on one animal.

Choose an animal from the list below:

You will design six slides for each of the following:

* animal classification

* rainforest strata where animal lives

* diet

* adaptations

* conservation status

* life cycle

Use the Animal Template to take notes for your animal report.

Pairs will make comparisons of their animals. You will make a Venn Diagram poster with at least four items in each category.

Pairs will also make a "Did You Know" segment on the Amazon Rainforest and one PSA (public service announcement) that explains what can be done to save rainforests. Both will be slides in the slideshow.

Each team member will create a rainforest diorama to use as a prop in your presentation. You will use the software program, Rainforest Designer, to make your rainforest diorama.

Stage 3

Your team will meet to share each pairs' work. Your team will create a title for your TV show. Your team will develop theme music for your TV show. Your team could write a rap to a jungle beat or write your own lyrics to a familiar song.

Stage 4

Finally your team should rehearse your TV show before you "broadcast it" on the Rainforest Explorers Network!
