Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Be able to work with severely handicapped children. The ability to tell where sound is coming from is essential in this job. Be able to meet multiple demands from several people. Be able to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated annually in writing by the Building Administrator. A copy of the evaluation will be given to the employee and a conference held with them to discuss the evaluation.

Reports To: Principal and/or Lead Teacher
SUMMARY: The Building/Classroom Aide assists the school’s principal and/or lead teacher and ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the building and/or classroom.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Make and receive telephone calls, take messages, and route calls.
- Maintain school records and files.
- Distribute mail.
- Greet visitors, obtain name and nature of business, and schedule appointments.
- Type, prepare, distribute, and file records/reports, correspondence, mailings, etc., for building functions and building level administrator.
- Process pupil attendance for the building staff.
- Take/transcribe notes for correspondence.
- Provide appropriate first aid needs.
- Schedule use of the building.
- Attend Open House as determined by building level administrator.
- Order, process, and maintain office materials and equipment.
- Serve as confidential administrative assistant to the principal/lead teacher.
- Administer medication according to policy and regulations.
- Operate standard office equipment.
- Participate in staff development as determined by the building-level administrator.
- Distribute community and/or District flyers.
- Compile and compute month-end reports.
- Work in conjunction with the building’s parent organization.
- Handle cash and money for the building according to business office guidelines.
- Assist students with building procedures and District regulations.
